99/365 Project 2010. Serenity on the River

This Blue-Bodied booby posed for a long time as I struggled with light & positions. 
(if anyone can actually correctly ID this bird, you win the booby prize!)

    black crowned night heron

    the expert committee in Onomea believed it so and verified it in a book

    All right - thanks! I was looking it up & thought it might be a black crowned night heron but it was more blue than the description I read so I wasn't sure. But you're right- now that I google more images of them - that's what it is! Your expert ornithology committee wins the booby prize!!!

    It's also similar to a kingfisher (those are blue), but it looks like they aren't here, PLUS they have longer tails.
