Attack of the Giant Clam!

Here it is - 33 years old and way bigger than any of the all-you-can-eat seafood places promise. This was taken at the Waikiki Aquarium in Honolulu.

I have a fascination with jellies and other soft-bellied marine life. A sort of "I will call him Squishy, and he will be my Squishy" attraction.

LavaLover Lessons

This was taken on a recent hike past Kalapana to see Kilauea vent into the Pacific. Lesson learned? Take a tripod - duh. But my blurred effect is kind of interesting. This is as close as they would let us get, and it was pretty awesome, but I wish we could have been a tad bit closer. Not many places on earth can you watch new ground being made before your eyes - this island is growing in many, many ways.

April is for Caving In

This salad delicacy was found at the entrance of Kaumana Caves on a recent near-spelunking day with B&J. I've gotten to play tourist 3 times so far in '08 on my own island - which is a great way to discover the little things around you. Up next: lava flowing into the ocean at Kalapana.
