Project 365:2012. The End of the World, as We Know It - in Pictures

This is a consolidated blog of Bibingkalovesbliss & Bibingkalover. There will be a picture for every day, and there will be food. A lot of it.

Good hair day for the Crested Crane

I love how the flowing feathers drape across the Crane's neckline. If only my hair could hang so gloriously...

Penthouse Pad

On a rainy day at the end of a chaotic September, this pad makes me think of financial safety nets. Don't panic, don't leap off the pad too soon, stay in the middle, don't panic, enjoy the view while it lasts.

America, Like This

Bird's Eye View

Bird's Eye View of Zoey

Welcome to September!

Here is a macro of a Hyacinth Blue Macaw's penetrating gaze. Right after this she charged at my lens - which proves my theory that birds should not live in cages (nor should I go birding in South America - but that's another story).

Zoey is a beauty queen with the most vibrant blue hue I've ever laid eyes on. The yellow eyeliner is a bit thick, but I think she pulls it off well. Much better than I could anyway.

Snow-capped Mountain Majesty

What I did on my summer vacation: I visited the endangered glaciers of Montana. By 2030 it is estimated that there will no longer be glaciers in Glacier National Park.

One Jelly For You, One Jelly For Me

I couldn't resist another soft-bellied creature pic. You other soft-bellies out there, and you know who you are, can relate, celebrate, lament, & transcend.

By the way, it is my one month anniversary of being liberated from the only addiction I have ever been able to maintain. Here's to letting go of soft bellies & soft brains.

Attack of the Giant Clam!

Here it is - 33 years old and way bigger than any of the all-you-can-eat seafood places promise. This was taken at the Waikiki Aquarium in Honolulu.

I have a fascination with jellies and other soft-bellied marine life. A sort of "I will call him Squishy, and he will be my Squishy" attraction.

LavaLover Lessons

This was taken on a recent hike past Kalapana to see Kilauea vent into the Pacific. Lesson learned? Take a tripod - duh. But my blurred effect is kind of interesting. This is as close as they would let us get, and it was pretty awesome, but I wish we could have been a tad bit closer. Not many places on earth can you watch new ground being made before your eyes - this island is growing in many, many ways.

April is for Caving In

This salad delicacy was found at the entrance of Kaumana Caves on a recent near-spelunking day with B&J. I've gotten to play tourist 3 times so far in '08 on my own island - which is a great way to discover the little things around you. Up next: lava flowing into the ocean at Kalapana.

Body Uncurling

So I have this fascination with fern shoots opening - particularly with native Hawaiian Hapu & Eluhe ferns.

Where I'm at

Caught on a recent trip to Oahu flying by the telescopes. Reminds me of the "Pop da pimple" campaign.
